How we started

The people behind Patelai began with fifty plastic folders counted by hand into a box for a teacher who could not buy them any other way. The habit stuck. Every pack that joins the range is opened and counted before its page goes up, and if the box and the label disagree the page waits.

What we make

We list 1148 packs today across 13 departments: kitchen and tableware, home and storage, office and school, party and holiday, clothing, beauty, health and dental, pets, tools and garden, travel, kids, craft, and gift sets. Prices run from $4.29 to $212.99 a pack, and every page also prints the price per piece worked out from the maker's count.

How we write a page

Every fact on a page is either the maker's wording or the label on the box, and the two are never mixed. Counts, sizes and materials come from the label. Dishwasher safe, BPA free and waterproof are the maker's claims and are marked as theirs.

We also write down what a pack will not do. It will not match a set you own, it will not split by size, and an assorted pack will not come in one colour. Saying so costs a sale now and then and saves a return every week.

Questions people ask

Straight answers

Can I buy fewer than the pack?

No. Every page is one pack in the count the maker states, and packs are not split. The per-piece price is there for comparing packs, not for buying one piece.

How are the colours split in an assorted pack?

Evenly, unless the page says otherwise, and the split is the maker's decision. If a job needs one colour, look for the page that names a single colour.
